Raising kids is never easy. Raising them with a mischievous tailmaw at your side is even harder. Growing up with growing tykes means you got to constantly adapt to the changing landscape of how to parent them, discipline them, encourage them and praise them. When it came to the dinner table, it was a struggle for Taylor to get her pups to eat all the food she had cooked for them. For you see, due to Ahya having traumatized Taylor when she was younger by eating her best friend, among other people, Taylor has had a strong aversion to meat in general. She prefers fruits and vegetables and sometimes fish. However, being that her pups are carnivores by nature due to being wolves, this sort of self-imposed diet makes it difficult to convince them to eat properly. Sometimes one of the kids would think they're smart and try to hide the fact they didn't eat the rest of their plate. One such instance was a sneaky Ahya intent to gobble more for herself than what Taylor was feeding her. She preferred meat as well, but she'd take anything to quell the hunger. Little did the tyke know that she was being set up by her mute secondary mommy - because whatever Ahya digests, Taylor can taste. Ahya didn't just steal that food off someone's plate. Someone gave it to her! Parenting is a trial.

Reminds me of that picture where Aya and Taylor’s mother suspected neither were doing homework and were instead playing games on the computer, and she was right.
Point being, there is a reason adults are atop the food chain. Until they are our age, children will never be our level of cleverness and intellect. XD Though children are smart, don’t get me wrong.

Yeah, it's something that is established in book 1 of Taylor's series that the moment Ahya digests something, that's when Taylor's brain registers those flavors on her tongue. If Ahya were to just hang onto the food for a time, Taylor wouldn't really be able to taste it or know about it if Ahya was sneaky enough.
