My first serious attempt at clay sculpting after almost half a decade. Leaving this attempt as is because I quite like the artifact aesthetic.

Its not easy to make stuff out of clay. Might seem like it is on paper, but its MUCH more complicated in reality.
I should know. I took a sculpting class in collage as an elective. Figured I could use it for a hobby. Nope. Turned out the materials are annoying/expensive to buy and it is much more difficult than I thought. I made some good pieces out of it (for a beginner at least), but its not for me.
That being said, this is way better than what I was capable of. How long did this take?

Yup. Way more complicated especially because I did using just my hands and a sticky note for a base.
Thanks for the compliment but don't sell yourself short. I estimate something like 1-3 hours for the initial sculpting, 2-5 days for drying (and because of IRL chores) and then an extra day due needing to glue the tail and left arm back together.

That's actually pretty good time considering it took me almost two months to make/glaze a plaque roughly the size of a laptop screen that had a design inspired by Sif the Great Gray Wolf (from Dark Souls).
I also had all the tools you'd expect from a sculpting class, so that really puts into perspective how much of a newbie I was. If you want, you can message me an email to send a pic of the small-scale prototype to.
Sadly the full sized one broke when an earthquake knocked it off the shelf it was on. Still got full credit, though.

I see. Sounds like a nice design.
Perhaps you can upload the pic on Discord (if you have one) and then shoot me a link on either this comment or FA's Notes? I'm not really ready to share any emails except during formal matters.
That's very unfortunate to hear but at least you passed regardless.
