After the news got out about Pal-002 "Fluffy's" escape, other Pals from the Palworld theme park have attempted to escape the island. Pal-017 "Espresso" (nicknamed for having a distinct coffee preference) was one such Pal who ended up successful in their escape attempt. While it is currently not known to us how they escaped the island, it is known to staff working on their case that they approached us directly. We suspect that Pal-002 managed to get in contact with Pal-017, informing them of the sanctuary granted within our walls and encouraging them to do the same. Pal-002 has refused to confirm our suspicions. A meeting was held to determine what we would do about Pal-017, as well as other Pals that may seek shelter within our facility. We decided that we would accept Pal-017 as well as any further Pals that seek shelter here, as it would allow us to study the differences between each Pal and give us easier access to Paldium, as we do not want to damage Pal-002 by taking too many Paldium samples from their processor. No differences have been found within Pal-017's Paldium-based processor, however, there are ongoing studies into how and why the subject consumes coffee, as well as the effects said consumption has on their operations. It has been noted that after consuming coffee, Pal-017 is able to move at a higher speed than normal. It has also been noted that after all of the substance has been used by Pal-017, it shuts down. The only repeatable way to restart Pal-017 after one of these shutdowns is to fully recharge it, although there was an instance in which Pal-002 was able to restart Pal-017 by connecting their charging ports together using a cable. In addition to this instance, we have also noticed that Pal-002 and Pal-017 often interact with one another outside of tests, with certain behaviors implying a romantic relationship between the two. Staff have been advised not to prevent this behavior but to monitor it, as it may give us more insight as to how these machines behave under normal social conditions.
