Yes - that- guy, hanging from the clock-hands in the old black and white silent film Safety Last, 1923. He was in over 200 films spanning silent to talkies, black and white to color, as well as performed and directed on radio. The conversion to talkies kinda stymied him though, similar to what happened to Buster Keaton and Charlie Chaplain.
After retiring from film, he continued to appear on guest spots on television, and never stopped experimenting with photography - being one of the photographers of the infamous Betty Page.

Don't know what possessed me to draw him as a grasshopper, since when I sat down my head was full of Heckle and Jeckle gay-lovers concepts >.< - the brain is a funny thing, and sometimes I suspect the cosmic radio inside my own sometimes changes channels when I bang my elbow on the desk. (Personally blames a butterfly flapping its wings in Peking last week).

Reading 'Three Days To Never' is to blame, as it deals with Einstein's relationship with Chaplin, and interfering with each other's attempts to create gestalt time machines. - Chaplin was attempting to do so with his lost film 'A Woman of the Sea'.
