Remember Kokomo and Koma? Well... lore time.
The Ko family is a family in which crime is an honored and rooted tradition. The family's ancestors believed that crime was essential to their livelihoods as a high-risk, high-gain activity for leisure, monetary benefit, and reputation. These beliefs were practiced and made important to their descendents and so forth, embedding crime as a thrilling lifestyle in the family that can be rewarding to finance, respect, and even casual fun.
Not getting caught is a thrill, but losing the left eye is a distinguished and notable "right of passage." Every successful criminal will have a missing left eye, replaced with some item. The choice of item may have significance, but it may not either.
A crucial aspect of the Ko culture that is reinforced is that the crimes must cause little to no injury to human life. Property, intellectual, and the material of the world is free to be exploited--but the irreplaceable lives that allow them to conduct such crimes in the first place are off limits.
Those that break the victimless rule are expelled from the family. Rape, murder, and other heinous and violent crimes are not tolerated. Yet, those who also do not follow family tradition are also treated differently. They are not expelled, but simply ignored and estranged from the family. While members may keep contact with them and keep relations, they are not regarded to be of high standing.
Komak, the grandfather of the family, is an arsonist. While the family did deem arson to be rather testy to the victimless rule, he was expunged, given his age and retirement. His left eye is a speaker cone. Maybe for how loud he was.
Oma is the grandmother in the family who made and sold drugs. Her eye is a crystal ball. The man she was married to had been expelled from the numerous assaults he committed.
Makoma is the mother. She steals a lot of things, namely cars, hijacking them to resell to scrapyards and underground traders. Her eye is a button.
Makoma's husband is Kamo, the family's father. He learned his craft from his mother Oma, and creates and sells drugs. It's rumored the snow inside his snow globe eye is cocaine, but it's a rumor.
Akoma is their daughter and the eldest sibling of her line. She was not interested in any crimes and lives an independent life, estranged from the family, but still has a decent relationship with Koma.
Kokomo is the middle sibling, the older brother to Koma. Kokomo specializes in vandalism and petty theft, but wishes to take up more risky and rewarding, bigger crimes like his mother. He'll train with her sometimes on how to steal cars. His eye is a glass eye, never aligned correctly.
Koma is the youngest individual. Though he has not committed many crimes or became notable for a specific craft just yet, his aid and partnership with his brother earned him the title of accessory and a foot in the door to advanced crimes. His eye is a magic 8 ball. Kokomo sometimes shakes and rattles his head to see what the 8 ball will say, much like a fortune teller. "Will I steal a car and get away?" Ask again.
