Kinda wanted to write a short story for this little comic, explaining a bit of backstory for the twins, but...
Feeling not inspired enough to do this. But also want to post some unposted stuff, a bit more than usual.

So... yea... the mini-comic...

Well...
Eiris and Alen have lost their mother.
While father was on a vacation, they all three were a part of a negotiation group with another country to the east. Discussing issues with an infamous terrorist nicknamed Rose, who had some gruesome business in the said country, and clues lead to her being a citizen of their own kingdom. Standard political bullshit. Telling them they are deeply concerned, they have no idea who Rose even is and where she is hiding.
"Rose" obviously isn't her real name, and there is nothing they can catch on to identify her. No one have seen a heavily armed female with a scary steel wolf mask on the streets either. How does she look under her mask? Who knows. Doubtful she crosses the border legally anyway.

But during the talks, suddenly, there was an explosion. Just behind the wall queen was sitting at. Turning a good half of the building, and quite a few officials from both sides.
Twins got away with nothing but a bit of scratches and a huge shock, but their mother... Well...
The only thing that was left of her - is her heavily enchanted wedding ring in a pile of dust and ashes.
Whoever did this - certainly knew what they are doing. No witnesses, no trails, no clear motivation, nothing. Not even any trace of magic that could have caused the explosion.

Alen and Eiris were scared, furious, heartbroken, and with their mother dead, and their father somewhere far-far away on a vacation - extremely lonely. With no one but eachother, whom they can trust, and who can uderstand their pain.
