A wonderful house design drawn by GoatMystic
It is on a small march Island off the coast of Louisiana called Benoit Island named for the Benoit family that had there manor house on it in the late 1700s. Shela was sold the Island and assumedly the manor house ....however soon found that the great house was built on a foundation of berried cypress logs from when the land was cleared....which had all by now rotted away leaving the manor to sink into the marsh up to its attic. The attic served as home for a little while until the remains of the old gate house was discovered in the overgrowth, a gatehouse that had been luckily built on a raised chunk of bedrock setting it slightly above sea level. After a while the small gate house was converted into Shelas cottage, the great arches were filled in with glass creating the perfect greenhouse for her rare and exotic plants and a cobb addition was placed on the opposite side to act as the new "front door".
