I did a traced artpiece out of Goku in DragonBall chapter 24
I think it's ok to trace as long as it's clear you traced it.
Whilst this pic isn't 1:1 exact, I still did most of Goku by tracing.
Goku is one of my fav. chars to draw and this was a perfect example of why.
Tracing for me is a way to learn some of the basics of drawing and even for an intermediate artist I think tracing can be a good tool to use in order to learn.
One of the major aspects to tracing for me is that I get to spend less time thinking about anatomy and what works what doesn't, and more time on the picture as a whole.
You also are more focused on the drawing because you enjoy the picture, even if it's not fully yours. Most beginners completely hate their lineart and stop drawing because what they come up with is nothing like they imagined. Tracing removes that hindrance and allows you to grow as an artist.
