General Showrym Digestive Anatomy
TONGUE:
All showyrms have a prehensile, hollow tongue that anchors to the underside of their gizzard. These tongues have microscopic barbs that act as grip. These barbs can retract and extend at will, as well as act as a rasp. The tongue can retract and reach into any part of the showyrm.
Gizzard:
The gizzard largely acts to store food objects. It's lined with smooth, soft muscle.
Foregut:
The absorptive organ, where a soap-like excretion is produced to absorb oil and 'wash' prey. The walls are like the small intestines of more familiar creatures, covered in numerous soft, fleshy spines. This is both to increase surface area for absorption, and to better wash prey.
Hindgut:
The digestive organ. Showyrms do not have a large need for protein, however if one is deficient, it may send prey further down, where a light acid may soften and lift away dead skin cells and free hair, before returning and washing the prey in the foregut. The inner walls are similar to the foregut.
Eggchamber:
All showyrms are hermaphrodites, having both male and female reproductive systems. Their eggs are membranous and gooey; though they lack a shell. The Hindgut does lead to the eggchamber, usually if a trusted prey requests access. The inner walls are smooth and plush.

The rear anatomy is about as expected, the lifestyle and slug-backed form suggesting them to be hermaphrodites. All the guts and how it all connects was a surprise though, but I think it works very well!
My insect character has a proboscis tongue of her own, and I'm curious if they share similar properties and utilization for feeding.
