It's been quite a while since I've made some of these. I wanted to play with depth perception some more, and since I'll be on winter sport vacation in a couple weeks, I thought why not do a Regional Variant of a fan-favorite Ice type, the Frost Tree Pokémon ユキカブリ Yukikaburi, or as we overseas know him as -- Snover!

I took inspiration from a YouTuber called Truegreen7 -- you might know him for his excellent redesigns of fan-favorite Pokémon, or making up new Pokémon concepts entirely. I had his artstyle in mind when coming up with this more Christmas-ey take on the currently-featured Gen 4 Grass / Ice type. I must say, it came out pretty good! I might work on my own artstyle a bit, but I'm overall satisfied with how it looks currently. Similar to Tropius, Snover's Dex Entries often state that they can grow berries from their tree-like bodies, and I wanted to include that into my design. However I also managed to make the berries appear as if they were traditional Christmas Tree decorations, and like Truegreen7 once said -- it can be quite the challenge creating something that looks like it's got two entirely different purposes while incorporating it into one single kind of item. And I think I mostly succeeded here. But I cannot deny that I really had fun creating this picture.

My Regional Variant swaps the Grass typing for the much less fragile Fairy typing, and therefore becomes a way stronger Monster -- at least now it isn't 4x weak to Fire, while still getting Attack Bonus from its Ice attacks. The Fairy typing also neutralizes its weakness to Fighting, however just like with the ACTUAL Ice / Fairy type, Alolan Ninetales, it becomes 4x weak to Steel, and I think that is a fair compromise.
