The Lipane are one of the weakest races on Eidon, in terms of physical strength at least, and with being pacifist in nature they've never really had any warriors among them. That is to say they had only one true warrior once long ago, a lowborn male by the name of Za'yad, a blacksmith from the surface village above Ahk'Arnehb the current day Lipane capitol. In those days it wasn't uncommon for bandits to raid Lipane villages or some monster wandering into the village to cause trouble and Za'yad believed that they needed some proper fighters to defend the village in case there was ever a time where they could not use magic to ward off threats. But being a lowborn commoner he had very little to say within the caste system and his suggestions were contsantly ignored.
So he began training in secret, having observed how human soldiers fight during his time as a garrison blacksmith near the human capitol of Whitestone, he already had decent physical strength due to his job but bulked up even more. He would also ask traveling adventurers to duel him at night so he could practice the combat skills he remembered and gain experience in using them. For years he lost every duel with adventurers to the point it became somewhat of a joke among members of the adventurer's guild. Eventually the duels would end up in an occasional draw which then became a victory once in a while untill Za'yad won more duels than he lost and could keep up with seasoned fighters. He then forged his own sword, Fire Thorn, and made himself some light armor to prepare for the day he would have to put his skills to the test for real. That day would not come for a few years however untill a group of bandits attacked the village with a captured monster commonly known as a Mage Eater, named so because this monster creates an anti magic field around itself renderign any magic user near it helpless. The villagers stood no chance against this attack and to make matters worse the beast's anti magic field disabled the lifts so no help would come from the city below. So Za'yad donned his armor and picked up Fire Thorn to rush into battle, he would be greatly outnumbered against the nearly two dozen bandits so he had to take out the Mage Eater fast and hold out for reinforcements from the city.
He managed to do so and saved the village but since he broke the law by having a deadly weapon and killing the monster and a few bandits he was arrested and later banished for a time to attone. However the leaders could not deny that his actions saved the village and possibly the city that day so they considered having him train a select group to act as an extra security force in case somethign like this should happen again. However before Za'yad could return he mysteriously vanished without a trace, and though no evidence was found the Lipane blamed the Vossen for taking out the one warrior the Lipane ever had.
Fortunately Za'yad had left many notes about his training methods and construction of the armor he had made for himself. So the Lipane did their best in replicating his work and created the first battle mage security force, named the Za'yadun in his honor. Though the Za'yadun do not use swords preferring instead to use staves that many mages already use, or as seen here using a one handed shortstaff either dual wilded or combined with a small shield or buckler. The Za'yadun still rely on magic but they also use their natural strenghts as Lipane, their powerful legs which allow them run faster and leap higher and further than most humans and ofcourse having a very powerful kick. Naturally they also have a strict rule to use non deadly force, but they have also taken inspiration from the humans who have anti-mages, the so called witch hunters to develop additional skills to stop rogue mages or other magical threats so they will often channel the fox fire spell through their weapon.
