These gouache postcards are part of a large series where I will be aiming to paint 100 landscapes. These were painted in 2024.
Postcard 76 Pumpkin Stack - A collection of blue pumpkins, stacked and ready for transport.
Postcard 77 Grotto - This scene features the floor of a moist wet cavern that contained a colony of microbats.
Postcard 81 Stone Wall - Painted after visiting the botanical gardens in Toowoomba, during the Carnival of Flowers.
Postcard 82 Spotlight - When a single ray of sunshine made it through the thick canopy at Binna Burra I knew I had to capture that moment to paint later.

Thank you so much! I do both, it really depends on the location. Gouache is so fickle with humid environments and I often have trouble with layers drying. I love to use dry brush techniques for texture and these are a challenge in some locations to pull off. For these areas I just take photos with my phone to paint at home later. If the weather and humidity levels are fine and I have time I will often plein air these pieces, even record some of them!
I love not just your technique, which is beautiful, but also that you are capturing what would be considered rather simple moments and subjects in a way that makes me pause and really pay attention to something I would otherwise overlook.
Plus I love the idea of visiting Australia so these small insights feel like part of an adventure :3

Thank you for coming forth to share your excellent portrayals of the world with us again!
I love how you arranged these four paintings: they seem to tessellate so smoothly,
palette-wise, but they depict very different things,
and the grotto's teal floor complement
those blue pumpkins, same as
that rusty orangey wall
repeats the colors
of that one sunray!
As always, your eye catches the beauty in very unexpected places,
but in retrospect, if feels like this exact view should have been
captured at that exact time.
And as AndreaJae pointed out above, there windows to Australia
are so vivid, they could count as legitimate form of travel!
Huzzah for pumpkins and microbats!

It is a pleasure to share my work with such a supporting community!
It is funny how their palette's all worked so well! They were painted separately on different days but all have that warm foreground. It is a triadic set I love working in! The scenes from nature reserves, national parks and rural locations have been doing exceptionally well at in-person markets so it has gladly pushed me to capture more locations in different conditions. I can truly never tire of painting leaves, clouds and water!
