Item Name:- Kelda's Cookbook of Cursed Creatures
Abilities:- Food (Cake) transformation, zombification
Description:- Kelda's Cookbook contains a list of methods to create or turn people into Cake Zombies.
A Cake Zombie is a creature whose top half is that of a human, while the lower half is that of a three-layered cake. Their bodies are made out of gooey cakes covered in icing. If a human is turned into a Cake Zombie, the persons skin, hair and clothes turn into colourful icing.
While the Cake Zombie is gender-neutral many believe them to be female due to the way the icing on their lips is different from the rest of the icing on its head, the way the icing on its head drips down its body, making it look like long hair and the way the Cake Zombie slouches causes two large globules of icing to form on their chests which look like breasts.
The creators of newer versions of Cake Zombies have given the zombies the ability to say a couple of words. The zombies usually sing a creepy version of “Happy Birthday” as a way to ruin any birthday a human goes to after facing a Cake Zombie.;
While slower than a regular zombie, the Cake Zombie is impervious to physical damage (as it goes straight through their body. They also show strong resistance against most magic as well.
One method of stopping a Cake Zombie is to use ice or fire to harden the outer layer of icing covering its body, effectively trapping the Cake Zombie in its own body. The fire or ice must be constantly used on the Cake Zombie, or the Cake Zombie will crack the outer shell and continue moving.
The main weakness of all Cake Zombies is the topper on their heads. Depending on what kind of cake the Cake Zombie is supposed to be, it will decide what topper it has. Usually, the topper is some kind of ornament or a candle. If the ornament is damaged (or blown out), the Cake Zombie will shut down for a brief time, but the ornament will repair itself (or reignite) eventually, and the Cake Zombie will wake up.
History:- Kelda Paris was a skilled sorcerer and alchemist who gave it all up when she fell in love with a human.
Kelda took up a career in baking. She made a variety of tasty cooked treats, but her most outstanding achievement was her wedding cake.
On her wedding day, the man she loved got cold feet and never came.
In her fury, she used her magic to turn it into a wedding cake into a monster which attacked the groom's family, turning them into the first Cake Zombies, who then left the church, attacking and transforming every human they came across.
While the Cake Zombies terrorised citizens, Kelda returned to her house, created more cake monsters and sent them out into the world to join the zombies. Each new creation she made she recorded in a cookbook.
Eventually, witch hunters hunted Kelda down, intending to kill her. While the hunters succeeded in their task, the cookbook disappeared during the fight.
To this day, the location of the original cookbook is still a mystery. It is believed to be in the hands of a magical organisation or coven as several reports of new and upgraded versions of the Cake Zombies appear now and then.
While the museum has not been able to get hold of the original cookbook, we have been able to obtain the topper of Kelda's wedding cake. The topper has lost most of its power, but it can still transform someone into a Cake Zombie if placed on a person's head. The difference is that the transformed person cannot spread the virus.
Museum note:- If the cake topper is not on display, it is being used in the museum kitchens to harvest icing for cakes.
