Because Subaru damn well wanted their chunk of money on a car they didn’t wanna make and Scion only existed in North America. “Sports car” has to be in our sporty “how do you do fellow kids” brand but everywhere else in the world they’re just Toyota.

Yeah. But I mean Subaru is a part of Toyota now, right? Meh, same car anyways, so this matters little I guess.

No, Subaru is not a full subsidiary of Toyota. Toyota owns 20% of Subarus shares and they’ve been doing dumb projects together like the soltera and brz but Subaru isn’t controlled by Toyota. Not yet at least…
