Punda is a member of a hyena street gang, the Black Fangs, who are mainly involved in illegal street races, gambling, bootlegging, soft drugs and of course a street fighting ring. While like most male hyenas Punda doesn't look too intimidating he is actually far more dangerous than he looks, the one reason why he is the second in command of the gang, and he's feared by most of the gang due to his agressive and unpredictable fighting style which has earned him the title "The Mad Dog" within the gang. Despite his lithe physique he can dish out and take quite a lot of punishment and the more pain he feels the more excited and dangerous he becomes, making full use of his skill to spot and exploit his opponent's weak points using any dirty trick in the book. "Fight smarter, not harder" is certainly one motto he lives by, and being quite the masochist "No pain, no gain" is another fitting one.

He has a strange relationship with a rival gang member of the White Fangs, who are somewhat more of a vilgilante group despite being involved in similar rackets but removing lone criminals from the streets so the law tends to turn a blind eye to their other activities most of the time. This relationship puts him at odds with his own gang leader, also his girlfriend, and they can often be heard or seen fighting eachother and sometimes they even take these fights to the ring for the entire gang to place bets on their commanders. How he is able to keep not only these two but other female hyenas from just killing him is not just down to his pretty boy/bad boy looks, as he has another feature that other male hyenes don't have which makes even the females envious and able to tolerate his behaviour.
