I wasn't happy at all with my previous attempt. While I did a quick blue line pencil sketch layer to start on the iPad in Procreate, it just didn't have the right proportions.

So today I tried again. In this case, I did the pencil sketch on physical paper and took a picture of that to use as my sketch layer to do lines over. MUCH better.

There is something about the ever so slight friction I get with pencil to paper that the glide on the iPad I can't control the initial sketch how I like. Once I have that sketch to follow, I'm good working digitally just fine. It's why I think the roo paw animation worked so well for me because the first image was just the shoe and it was simple enough to not need the detailed start and then just building up the toes and eventually the foot on the subsequent frames it went easier for my workflow.
