Original Species: Hell Hamster
After a long absence from Navia, the continent north of Arcadia, we return to witness one of the smaller, yet most vicious creatures inhabiting this land: The Hell Hamster.
Named so due to their hyper-aggressive nature, these rodents follow the rule of "shoot first, ask questions later". Using their chisel-like teeth, they are capable of severing limbs from smaller creatures and devouring them at a frightening speed. Whenever a kill is made, be it by another predator or the hamsters, every single individual within 1km of the kill site will converge on it, wanting their share of the flesh. In that regard, Hell Hamsters are best compared to Earth's Tasmanian Devils... yet somehow even more aggressive.
Fights often break out over who gets to fill their belly first, and often these battles end in the death of at least one hamster. The Hell Hamster's aggression is so bad in fact, that no one from the research team wanted to pose with them. Instead, a literal measuring stick was placed in the ground near a fresh carcass in the hopes of one of the hamsters getting close enough to be measured and providing at least a vague sense of scale.
These hamsters are primarily carnivorous, though they do supplement their diet with seeds and nuts if those are available... and if there is no meat around. Given the choice, Hell Hamsters prefer to eat fresh meat whenever possible; especially if the meat is still warm.
