Here is the proof I have been making birds out of foam for a long, long time. :D And come a long way, aughgh this is almost painful for me to look at! But I thought somebody might appreciate it.
Technically this wasn't my first foam costume; I'd made a velociraptor the year previous (when I was 12, and when Jurrasic Park was all the rage). But sadly, I don't think any pictures of it survived the Great Basement Flooding Incident. :/ However, this WAS my first bird!
It was for Halloween, and as ever, I only had a few days to finish it once I had all the materials, so I rushed through a bunch of parts and was not entirely happy with my hackjob. But for what it was, it turned out all right, and that's how to you learn anyway.
That's my brother on the left; it's a bit hard to see, but I painted his face to look like a cyborg, with metal exposed under charred flesh and an eye/mouthpiece. Someone had also just had a party (probably for my brother's birthday)... so there are random balloons and streamers in the picture. Yep.
To anyone who thinks they suck at making things, I offer my best advice: JUST KEEP DOING IT!
