Tristan isn’t from modern times, having grown up in Pokémon’s equivalent of the medieval ages before having been brought to the present by a traveling Celebi. An artisan and a writer, he has actually adjusted really well to the new manner of speech and different culture, but he is also quite often shocked by the changes in tech, most notably how much more useful his powers over electricity are now.
