(Another late Valentines piece, forgot to post this last night.)

When Jehlani lost her mate to the lion attacks on Drum Town and suffering through the occupation, her herd had started to fall apart despite her efforts to keep them together under her leadership. Her own children had also been lost during the occupation which would have left the herd completely leaderless so when the Outcastes liberated Drum Town their leader, Rwanda, suggested one of their own would stay behind to become the new lead stallion for the herd. It wasn't ideal and Jehlani had her doubts about this male but Jamba has proven himself to be a good and honest leader and managed to help reunite the herd by supportign Jehlani rather than imposing himself. Eventually all the herd members would accept him as the eventually new leader of the herd, and even Jehlani had grown fond of the younger zebra stallion as it turned out they shared a similar pain of having lost their herd to Garaar's lions. She began spending more time in his company to get to know him better and before long she realised she had fallen for him, he was a good and honest man, a capable fighter and leader and he had always respected her experience and advice. So they decided to oficially declare themselves mates before the rain season came, mending both the herd and their hearts for however much time they would have together due to their age difference. But the future of the herd was secured and her lineage as well eventually as she would one day give birth to one last foal they would both cherish and raise to be the one to take up the leadership of the herd.
