Updated work done in 2021. Since then I've done a lot of work and a lot of studying, and I hope this shows some of the progress I've made in that time. All of my work is done with a lot of care so that's why I still like the general idea of the original and why I tried to save it instead of just painting something completely new. I plan to do the same with a lot of my old work because I feel it has the same potential to look good and the way I wanted it to look back when I just didn't have enough skills to do it.

What a quality leap! Well done on this re-painting of your old work.
This new version definitely has much more depth in it, more rich individual texture, and a stronger atmosphere to it.
The comparison between the two looks as if your old version is the rough concept of it, and this is the finished work.

The smoke coming from the right should suggest a fire just off screen. I hope it can be interpreted that way, but I am a fan of "fantasy lighting" too. Tasteful use of light that doesn't technically makes sense (Lord of the Rings movies have a few examples of those). I hope it works a bit on that level, too.
That's how the artistic journey goes. Sometimes we have to pause an artwork until we further develop our skills in order to complete it as we envisioned.
Also you don't even have to mention it, it's incredibly evident how much love and care [and imaginative thinking] goes into every scene you paint. Always leaves one in awe! The detail and textures of the floor for example make the image feel so real and palpable!
