The vibe. A few years back I decided to finally bite the bullet: to play Disco Elysium. It is unironically one of the best games I have ever played, and that has one of the most depressing game development stories tied to it, which somehow makes the entire experience so much more important. The team that put together Disco Elysium is now almost entirely-if not straight up-fired and replaced. The writers, the coders, the artists and the entire core of the studio have been kicked out, and while there is talk of a sequel, it would only be a sequel warped by capital and a shadow of the first game. The story of Disco Elysium, not just the game but the development and aftermath, is the profoundly saddening fact that capital will destroy all that which you hold dear.
