Your design doesn't initially scream hope, but that what makes it interesting because just by looking at you people wouldn't be able to tell you've gone through a redemption arc, but that makes it all the more interesting when they see you've become quite a nice guy .

This is where the ~true beauty~ lies. Appearences can be deceiving and shows that even the most sinister looking being can have an heart of gold from the start also strong positive principles. There are no redemption, things were always like that as ZalMorak always was portrayed as a savior and guardian whose love for living beings/mortals is far more powerful than anything else. People shared common positive views on him, only the gods feared his limitless power but still had strong respect as he was their most powerful ~ally~ at this point.

Perceptions are always relative, many people fear Dragons just for being Dragons whereas I do the opposite.
