I haven't done a full color pic of Three in awhile so here you go.
I was watching Red Dragon Thursday night and kept doodling up images of her with those bangs of hers pinned back behind her head. Her papers sort of obscure it but she's wearing a red corset top that probably gives the illusion that she has a chest.
Don't know a thing about this world or if it's even a story brewing at all. I get the vague impression that she's an investigator of some sort, although in a freelance position. The tech level is modern day earth although the clothing styles are a bit different and Three can apparently pass herself off as a native. Beyond that, I've no clue.
Heck, if someone wants to take this and write something off of it, feel free. I already have two half finished stories in my head of her and don't need more. It'll probably come out eventually anyway, but I'm not going to try too hard.
This was linework scanned in and colored up in Sai.

Neat! Nice picture. I still find it fascinating how the creative mind works. I seem to be lacking one of those. :P I think I would have to pass on trying to throw together my own story. Too busy, and I know I wouldn't do the character justice. But I hope you, or someone who can do it well, picks up the torch at some point. Three is such a nice departure from the traditional, boring characters I generally know of. ^^
This one made me delete the internal combustion engine only from modern history. So, plastics, subways, internet, maglevs, horse-drawn carriage, nuclear and steam ships coexisting, rail and boat being king of the long haul infrastructure, the odd natural gas turbine engine no good person wastes money on, politics being decidedly regional and culture developing slower do to travel being difficult and slow. I see Three holding a federal trade inspector job that is unexciting, but has made her very well traveled. Anonymously, on the nets, she has a reputation as a particularly accomplished amateur journalist, with a knack for exposing the truth behind the seeming coincidences in the recent developments in the strange alliances of the regional cartels, previously starkly territorial in a hyper-capitalist deadlock with their neighbors. It is only the control of the rail system and ports that keep the federal government in power, even so, the balance of power in practice is regional. The political leanings of the day would be modern, with a touch more nationalism due to isolation; most of the populous lives happily, affluently, and peacefully as all the last century's wars have been predominantly naval, so infrastructure has not been scarred by world-reaching ground wars like in our timeline. The war being fought is in boardrooms and corner offices over market share and economic monopoly. Indeed, it seems like events are coming to a head after decades of oscillating commodity pricing, seemingly to the benefit of everyone, if it were not for a few dark secrets brought to light by the Society of Truth, whose evidence is incontestable despite the authors' anonymity.
It looks like Three just got her paws on a report decidedly not meant for her, the contents of which just made the past few seemingly nonsensical leads' purport click in her head. Although shocking, this development also has an element of sheer lunacy that has upset her normal honed response; normally she would have half of these photographed and encrypted in her PDA by now.

If that outfit is mainstream, then it's probably a world where steampunk fashions reign supreme.
I imagine her working with a Hercule Poirot-like character, either with him as a retired investigator who helps her figure out the clues or as her boss/partner where he does most of the thinking and she does most of the legwork and gruntwork. While appreciative of her investigative skill, he can't help but needle her when the opportunity arises, leading to collaborative discussions that are just as much intellectual sparring matches.
