Have you ever tried hot glue? O: I think cutting the black triangles out of felt and then glueing them nicely to the hat would look better than markers, or sewing felt pieces! And the glue is washable etc... I've had experiences of washing hats that had marker on them and it bleeds through the hat like the mark expands.
