This was originally going to be a more basic study, but while planning out my composition digitally, I accidentally moved some layers around in a way that wiped out the eyes, and I knew that I wanted to plan the painting around that aspect instead. The absence of a gaze makes the painting more of a meditation on that concept of sight than if the eyes had been visible.

This painting was also interesting to work on because it was a lot of intentional layering, and at times involved a lot more careful wiping out of paint than it did just putting down new brushstrokes.
