Deep in the mountain of Salamandastron, the badgerlord sits in the infirmary after a fierce battle on the sea shore. Blade and shield clashed, and many a vermin and Long Patrol hare and woodland hero fell. Yet the tide of battle turned when the badgerlord came under the influence of the dreadful bloodwrath.
Though the battle is over and the day won, the badger finds peace and solace alone as he recovers from his terrible mental ordeal. Though his body needs attending, the badger must heal his mind first.

I had a talk about that with my buddy Griz last night. The way I interpreted it was that without Bryony’s love and influence, Veil wouldn’t have interfered and stopped his father. Her influence came through in the end even in a creature that was so hellbent on committing evil.
Could it have been made clearer and more of a traditional redemption? Absolutely. But unfortunately there are those people that seem no matter how much you love them, they must destroy their lives the way they see fit.
It’s not how I would’ve written it, and I understand the complaints, but that’s just how I saw it play out.
