This picture was based on a sketch commission (LINK )done for me by
rickgriffin Used with permission.
Now me being a huge mass effect fan, I was kinda wanting to do a picture with me in shepards N7 armor for quite a while, but I always backed away when I realised how much effort would be needed to put such a picture together.
But when I read that
rickgriffin, author of the awesome webcomic Housepets, was doing sketch commissions, I didnt hesitate. Now I pretty much dumped that whole idea of my character in that armor on him and I wasnt sure if he would do it, since well it was just a cheap sketch commission.
But not only did he agree to it, he also did an amazing job of portraying the armor and weapon in the mass effect style.
I absolutely loved the sketch and almost immediately started working on a coloration.
It took quite a while to finish, with all the various pieces of armor and different layers of materials involved, but it was absolutely worth it.
Enjoy!

*o* That is awesome. I just recently got into the Mass Effect series. Bought the first one like, two weeks ago and I have 30 hours and two playthroughs done on the first game, and I'm 7 hours into the second. It's suuuuch a good series, having a character done in the N7 armor is a great idea. >w<
Thanks, but the real star behind this is
rickgriffin since he drew the original sketch.

I just finished Mass Effect 1 about a week ago and Mass Effect 2 yesterday. That was some epic shit and definitely the best story in a game I've played yet. I'm became a huge Mass Effect fan in a short time and I'm fascinated of how deep every character is. Mass Effect 2 had stunning graphics, awesome atmosphere and more action. But when it comes to story and character the first one beats it by lightyears. That's why I still, even after finishing the second game, I still like the first one better. If you want to nerd around with me about Mass Effect, note me :D
I agree with you in terms of the story. The story revolving about the disappearance of the Protheans is much more compelling than the story about colonies gone missing. Though one should mind that Mass Effect 2 is "just" the second act and thats always a piece of the story where its just preparing everything for the grand finale.
They said their main inspiration for Mass Effect 2 was Empire Strikes Back and I think it very much shows because of the darker tone and all and comparing it to that Star Wars episode, its basically the same story wise: You may have the big revelation about Darth Vader but in the overall story arch about the rebellion against the empire, there isnt really that much accomplished besides the battle of Hoth at the beginning of the film.
Anyway I'm just looking forward to Mass Effect 3, I think this is gonna be a mindblowing experience from start to finish.

Oh yeah, didn't know about the inspiration fact. Though I always liked "The Empire Strikes Back" best of all the Star Wars movies, the story is not making too much progress. There's Han Solo frozen in carbonite, which is just a preparation for the scenes in Jabbas lair, there's Yoda preparing Luke for the final encounter of Darth Vader. So yeah, even though it's my favourite Star Wars movie, you can compare it to ME2.
The fact that annoyed me most is that you kinda feel forced to search for new squad members. In ME1 you found your squad members on your way through the galaxy, which felt more like you met them by chance. In ME2 you already know of those characters before, because the Illusive Man told you to meet them. That was kinda bothering me, cause it felt like it's delaying the story progress. Second fact was the bad guys. The collectors didn't seem too frightening. Yes, they were there and kidnap whole colonies. But we don't have the major bad guy like Saren in part 1. I really really liked Saren, because he gave evil a face. In the second game Shepard fights against... well... the collectors. That was pretty lame. But I REALLY look forward to ME3. The trailer already was epic and the game will be so awesome. I just hope I don't have to search any new squad members.
Plus: it doesn't take too many guesses who will be the bad guy in the third game *g* A man with such crazy eyes can't be on your side ;)
