RIP Franklin

"Mooooooooooooooooom, FISHIE?"
"UGH FYNE"
"YAYAYAAA"
and so we went to the fishing game, Dave, Ashley, my sister, and me. Mom stayed behind with the baby.
we paid 5$ for forty balls, and Dave, on his first throw, won a fish. Nobody else managed to win a fish.. but that was okay.
i EXCITEDLY exchanged the ticket for a fish.. and WOW i was SOO happy. i pranced and ran as carefully as possible back to mother..
"MOOOM MOOOM LOOK, FISHIE! I HAVE A FISHIE! LOOK!"
and so we left the fair, with my new fishie in hand i couldnt be happier. mom wanted to name it Dave, but since it was meant to be the babies pet, i let my sister name it.. she chose Franklin.
i love fish. i had three goldish at home already, and was looking to add two more to complete the family. and so this won fish was going to be the babies first pet.. ... was.
i found it dead in the tank today.
it was doing pretty good at the fair and seemed to really love the tank once it was finally in it. but.. something was off. it was unable to eat, it seemed. it tried and tried, but it spat everything back up. i figured it may have just been stressed, and hoped it would manage to eat. i tried a few different fish food brands that i had on hand as well.. and nothing changed.
some fish just dont make it. just because it was from the fair doesnt mean SHIT. my fantail, my first goldfish that i actually knew how to properly care for, is the fish i've had the longest. it was won from the fair, and its been what.. two or three years now. and its still going strong. even a fish bought from the petstore didnt make it past a couple of days, but the other two bought from there did make it.
anyway.. this fish looked like a shubunkin, it had a small tear in its fin when i got it, but other than that it appeared healthy. it lasted a total of three days. i was going to try my hardest to go to the petstore tonight, to look for some different food.. but.. *sigh* its rather depressing.
this image is a vent, ive.. been trying to draw "happy" vents instead of sad images. so heres tok, pridefully carrying her new fish around. this was rather hard to draw, i was fighting tears through it. i know its just a fish i've had for three days.. but damn. you dont fuck with my fish.
Franklin was put to rest in the lake behind the house.

poor fishie :(
My fair fish died a week later. He might have been sick, I don't remember.
But my friend got fish from a Japan Heritage Festival last year, and all four of them lasted six to seven months. I guess it's just living conditions. You can't really ask a fish what's wrong if you notice they don't feel good. :( It's sad.
I'm sorry you lost your fish, he must have been a real nice looking glub, according to the picture. :')

my first few fair fishies died because i didnt understand how to take care of them properly :(
you see them in those tiny bowls all the time.. but thats just not good for them at all.
im glad your friends fish lasted a while! and getting four from a fair.. i hardly manage to get one, haha.
and yes, he was a rather pretty shubunkin :3 the other shubunkin i have doesnt have many spots, but instead is rather transparent in appearance. its pretty cool, you can see his insides.
