My friend Tim owns this lovely 1940 Hudson, and I recently caught it parked on the street in the middle of town near the Jell-O Tree.
I couldn't resist taking a few close detail shots of it. Here's a close look at Hudson's 1940 hubcap design.
It's an original, unrestored car, and I love the wear and patina that well-preserved old cars exhibit. The original paintwork on this car looks and feels nice, the chrome trim has aged beautifully, it smells like the living room of an old house inside, and it sounds old and sweet when it's running.
You don't often see a car like this casually parked on the street these days.

and yet they were so common when we were children...
Bob Hope had a joke about the Hudson... they were called the 'step-down Hudson' because they were the first to hug the ground (comparatively). Hope would say, "I have a friend who was so depressed, he went outside and stepped down into his Hudson."
