Original Species: The Small Birds of Vogelheim
While typically known for its large and even monstrous inhabitants, the continent of Vogelheim is also host to a variety of much smaller and more harmless avian inhabitants. Taking a small break from the arachnids of the Seed World, Aisha is currently having a supervised interaction with a few of these minuscule feathery creatures.
The Rorarrot is a species of small parrot that inhabits the scrublands and forest edges in the central part of Vogleheim. It is a quirky, playful, and curious little creature that primarily feeds on grass seeds and small, tough fruits that can be commonly found in its environment. Since no humans are permanently stationed on this specific continent, the Rorarrots never developed a fear of humanoids and thus are rather eager to investigate any appearance of the aforementioned.
The Heart Peep is another small bird native to the scrublands of Central Vogelheim. Named so after the heart-shaped patch of pink feathers on its chest and the noises it makes, this bird is slightly more cautious than the Rorarrot. While it won't typically fly away from approaching humanoids, it will maintain a safer distance from them while still observing them. It is an insectivore and typically feeds on small bugs that are abundant in the widely spread grasses and bushes of its habitat.
The Crested Beeper is a small herbivorous bird that inhabits the scrublands of Central Vogelheim. Similar to the Rorarrot, it feeds on grass seeds and small fruit, while also partaking in leaf-eating, thus limiting its direct competition with its parrot neighbor. It is the shyest of the currently discussed small birds and is the least likely to interact with humanoids.
Males of this species can be distinguished by their orange and yellow plumage on the head and tail. Females lack these colors and thus can be easily recognized when sitting next to a male.
The Peebeeper is the last of the currently discussed small birds. A cautious, yet inquisitive little thing, it is more often first heard than seen. The characteristic "Pee-BEEP" noises that it makes are part of the ambiance of the scrublands.
The Peebeeper is a specialist in hunting small flying insects. It often follows larger birds, such as the Gworps, and hunts the insects that they startle by walking through the vegetation.
While all are cute, none of these birds can be kept as pets. This is due to the state-mandated orders that prevent the capture of wild animals for both commercial and private entertainment means. Interactions such as responding to first contact with the animals are permitted IF the creature in question has initiated the interaction (for example by flying over and landing on someone's shoulder or finger). Mild signs of affection are permitted if the animal seeks such interactions.
Anything beyond that can serve as a basis for a criminal investigation and severe fines.
