Wizardmon and Angewomon
Just a wizard and his tall guardian angel girlfriend. <3
I grew up with the German dub of Digimon (I'm Swiss), and the other day, I had a fun nostalgia trip where I watched fav scenes from the original Japanese version with subtitles... and learned how beautifully poetic the dialogs are in that language sometimes. I fell in love with Wizardmon all over again. I have no idea why the German dub didn't always translate those poetic bits correctly, because they usually do a good job it.
English dub, on the other hand, I hate for ruining Digimon by not only changing whole dialogs, but also whole instrumentals, theme songs, and even sound effects into something annoying. The English dub even changed Wizardmon's important last scene by editing the very cut scene into something stupid. You guys are missing out on something emotional.
Sorry, I just generally hate English dubs of anime for doing shit like this rather often. They don't even respect Ghibli movies enough to translate their dialogs correctly all the way. In the movie Spirited Away, for example, the English Dub decided to translate original dialogs like "Are you okay? I asked Kamaji to help us out. He's sending his best herbal essence." into "Don't worry, stay right where you are, I'm coming to help you! You'll be fine, I won't let him hurt you!" Look man, even the German dub could translate that piece correctly. What is wrong with English translation teams when it comes to anime.
I don't know, as a writer myself, this kind of thing makes me upset. Imagine spending years on a good story, only to learn that thousands of viewers in other countries think their butchered version is your original.

I'm right there with you about how the English... machine killed *so* so much from the series, to the point it just made fun of itself... it wasn't until much later that I was able to discover the original OSTs and the absolute *rift* of difference between the Eng dubs and the original...
Used to walk across town jamming out to the German versions of the Tamers OST (which were verrrry inspired from the original Japanese, and kept a lot of that kickass -drive- those songs had)... I need to actually rewatch the original few series, because the Eng Dub always made it too laughable to really pay attention to.

Honestly, it came off as a shock to me to learn how English anime dub sounds so awful. Even the voice actors give it a whole different quality than when voice actors who work for an original English cartoon. You could just turn off the screen and only listen to voice actors' dialog bits, and you could tell if it's an original English cartoon or English anime dub. Original English cartoon often sounds genuine, subtle, good. While English anime dub sounds WAY over the top, overdramatic, annoying, can't take it seriously.
Finally I see I am not the only one when it comes to how different English sub sounds from English cartoon. It almost sounds artificial and not genuine to the point that I simply avoid English dubbed Anime and go directly for the subbed version. Thankfully Italian anime makes characters memorable since Italy has a long dubbing tradition that developed quite well over the decades, but still I prefer subbed version because I want to focus on the work was rendered in the original language.
