Dedicated to my dear
Feros, who pointed me how T'Ana and Kwazi are... like... almost the same character? Down to the small tear on the right ear!

ID: A simple shaded lineless drawing of Doctor T'Ana, a humanoid cat-like character from Star Trek, in her sickbay, but in the round and friendly Octonauts style. She is an orange Caitian with grumpy expression, wearing her blue medical Starfleet uniform, and holding a tricorder that shows an Octo-alert octopus symbol. The background shows a big dark panel of the Sickbay with medical information of a carrot-like creature, in blueish schemes and lines, and a window to a big aquarium with a beluga wearing a Sciences Starfleet uniform. End ID.

Oh, this is absolutely glorious!
Thank you so much for sharing this fantastic mash-up!
You can make environments gain immersive volume and tangibility
with just a little geometry and the basic gradients, it's an artistic superpower, for sure!
And once again you have taught me new things! I didn't know
there was a second animated series in the Star Trek canon –
and one that featured a furry character, too!
Feros and you are absolutely right about Kwazi and T'Ana's
uncanny resemblance, even if the pirate is a lot less
viciously harsh and jaded than the doctor lady.
The beluga in a science skinsuit and that console
are both brilliant and add so much to the scene
without drawing attention from the
grumpy medi-cat!
The world is not prepared for what your could do
if you were given your own animation studio!

Yaaaaay, thank you!
I'm trying to be less lazy about backgrounds, and I'm glad to see the work is... working! I'm still lazy about classical perspective though, so atmosphere and isometric are my first options when possible. Well, diversity of artistic solutions is welcome!
Lower Decks is art! Its only down it that you need to know at least a bit about all other Trek, especially the older series, so you can get the many references. It is a love letter to the mean Star Trek fan - an annoying person that loves details and screams in happiness when these details show up (that's me, I can say it). Plus, it even criticizes nicely some aspect of the franchise, from lazy plots to the ultimately militaristic nature of Starfleet.
The beluga is a part of the Cerritos crew, they have a Cetacean Ops, and I love how it explores the theme of intelligence of cetaceans (plus animals designs in Lower Decks are really cute, with these small eyes)
And I would say that I'm not prepared for what I could do with an animation studio xD xD xD

Thank you for explaining the beluga mystery!
Dolphins and whales have always had this connection
with space exploration, from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy,
to David Brin's books with sentient dolphins on spaceships
(David Brin also wrote the storyline for the game Ecco the Dolphin),
to the Star Trek movie about stealing whales from the past.
Space is an ocean, and there have to whales.
I am also reminded of an old TV show called seaQuest DSV, that had a talking dolphin as a character,
and that had a very Star Trek-y feel to it.
Lower Decks really sound like a great show, thank you for letting me learn about it!

The petunia vase: oh no, not again!!!
I LOVE the The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and also the Dirk Gently novels too! Hilarious! And Star Trek IV, help, I always laugh remembering great moments: "He used too much LDS in Berkeley", "Nuclear wessel" (ops, pazhal'sta!), "Not now, Pavel!", and "Compuuuteeeer...."
Ecco the Dolphin!!! I played it a lot, but never completed!
And, OMG, that SeaQuest DSV really sounds like a mix of Star Trek and live action Octonauts! I'm confused, but in a positive way. Thank you!

Thank you for teaching me about the Dirk Gently novels, I never heard of them before!
The "nuclear wessels" is much more embarrassing because, as you know,
Slavic languages work the exact opposite way, making every soft consonant
really hard and distinct, like the classic Vampire Speech:
"Children ov ze night! Vat music zey make!"

Thank you kindly for the recommendation, but I barely read anything anymore.
Only the Internet, which is an endless source of text to process.
I didn't know about that actor's untimely passing, thank you for informing me!
He was very good in that reboot film. He was born in my city, only three years after me.

Lately I'm not being the most prolific reader too, but I'll try to grab some animal xenofiction after your list!
I was really sad when I watched the reboot and discovered that Yelchin passed, and so young! I love both Chekovs, Koenig's and his. He didn't try to emulate the old Chekov in external features or mannerisms, but brought his youth and charm. He is one of my favorites of the reboot, alongside Urban's McCoy (tbh I'm not a big fan of the reboot, mostly mixed feelings. But... Chekov and McCoy!)
It's sad and strange when some famous death hits near home. That plane disaster of Mamonas was relatively near the place I used to live, the Cantareira mountains are indeed very beautiful. So I imagine how you feel about Anton Yelchin now.

Thank you for your sympathy! I don't feel personally anguished,
as I wasn't that big of a fan, but it's just this dull sense of sadness.
Someone so young and accomplished shouldn't disappear so senselessly.
Same as Dinho and the rest. It's just one more reminder that there is no justice
beyond what we can make ourselves, and the only common enemies of humanity
are death, diseases and disasters – all random, ruthless and unfair – and not the other humans.
I loved Urban's McCoy, too! So neurotic, rushed, but very kind-hearted, passionalte and moral.

"Someone so young and accomplished shouldn't disappear so senselessly." there is... there is a beautiful Lower Decks episode exactly about this. We make art to deal with these happenings, too!
"It's just one more reminder that there is no justice

Thanks! Feros made his version of the combo too :D (he was the guy that pointed me those similarities)
