For Paul Kidd's "Neu Europa" alternate history scenario, I designed a whole alternate history Luftwaffe to about 1950. I'm tempted to redo this to better reflect some the the engineering and equipment details.

Only if I learned one, or several, of the various industrial strength drafting and modeling programs. And doing it as a job is entirely different than doing it for fun. Here I can design something like a whole aircraft and its design and operational history from scratch. In business, I'd be doing variations of left-handed gerschunderling valve screws. And even if I could get into some wild and crazy design studio, they'd still require I work with their programs and formats.
While I'm an old dog, I can still learn new tricks, but I'm not keen on doing so because I have to instead of because I want to.

If you want a program that is more fun than "every tool an engineer might conceivably need while designing next hypersonic suborbital fighter", I would suggest checking out Moments of Inspiration. It's a good little NURBS modeller that has very lean and clean interface and is very easy to pick up.
Which "Amerika Bomber"? Several programs laid claim to the title over the years.
The gun loads were not so much "modular" as the ammo came in pre-loaded cans rather than snaking in the belts while on the aircraft. The gun types are simply to show that there were options.
The gun types are one of the things I'd change. Shown is the Mg151/20, which would remain, and possibly the Mk103. The rotoray cannon is my own, and would eliminate it for the Mk213/20 or /30. In the scenario, the Mk108 was not advanced very far as well as superceded by circumstances and the Mk212 would likely not happened at all.

Are you talking about the late-war very big Horton wing? That was just plan silly, though it likely kept a few engineers from being drafted into the infantry on the Eastern Front. An awful lot of late war wonder weapon designs were make-work for design teams that would have otherwise been sent off as cannon fodder. All too many of the Nazi high command actually believed their own propaganda and really thought some kind of impossible victory could be achieved with some new crack-pot scheme even as late as the Spring of '45
I didn't want to bring it up, but a lot of the time I download one of your files I have to import into Photoshop, brighten the image and increase contrast so that the background stuff drops out. There's no reason this can't be done before the files are posted, unless you're pressed for time.
