Original Species: Cavibrowser
The Cavibrowser is a relative of the Megacavia and Grancavia that has adapted to feeding on the tall, tree-like plants that are strewn all around the grasslands of Navia. Its long neck and legs allow it to make use of food sources that are unavailable to the other herbivorous inhabitants of the continent, but also allow it to more easily detect potential threats and escape them.
With its speed, the Cavibrowser can easily escape predators such as the Gnarl-Rat or the Greater Land Crocodile since those two are usually not fast enough to run it down. Meanwhile, being roughly the size of Earth's Okapi puts it out of the range of smaller predators, such as the Dire Rustrat (which will, however, go after newborn Cavibrowsers).
Of all the currently known Navian predators, the Hell Hamsters seem to pose the largest threat to adult Cavibrowsers, as when they are hungry enough, they tend to form gangs that are capable of taking down larger prey... and they are harder to detect than the larger predators. However, if they are detected and if they fail to rip apart the legs of their chosen prey, the hamsters can be rather easily avoided and escaped from.
Cavibrowsers are typically solitary creatures, intermingling only for the mating season or for raising their young. In the latter case, females will form small groups in which they can share in looking after their babies until they are strong enough and fast enough to run away from predators. Before that time comes, however, the babies are kept in a shared nursery in which the mothers can take turns keeping an eye out for predators and fending off the smaller ones (two or three adult females can easily trample a Rustrat to death).
When they don't feel threatened, Cavibrowsers are docile and fairly tolerant creatures. Due to the fact that there are no large bipedal predators on the Continent of Navia, they don't see humanoids as a threat... but are still likely to bite and kick anyone who randomly decides to just come up and touch them.
Following the general rule of "look, but don't touch" is the recommended way to act.
