my dad both raised them as exotic pets and ran a coyote rescue my dad got a male coyote back in the early 60,s it was orphaned over the years he was given other coyote pups by ranchers or farmers some he kept so whe had a couple of breeding pairs others we raised till old enough to release then let them back into the wild ,the ones released where raised by a female coyote and not handled the ones to be pets where taken from the mother and put with a replacement mother and also hand fed and handled the ones that where sold went to loving owners who treated them very well one guy even let his sleep in bed with him like one would any dog
Thats so messed up. There was something similar out here, a guy had found a baby deer on the raod by its dead mother and he was raising it until some government agency found out they claimed the deer was too dangerous to keep and they took it from him and killed it. Then displayed it in a local museum. Its really messed up when things like that happen. They should just let people take the risk of getting harmed if they wish to try and rescue something. So long as the animal is kept healthy and safe.
She is beautiful!
I have very good relationships with the coyotes on my ranches. I may be the only rancher that doesn't shoot them. My cows are derived from wild stock, and have a very effective precisely coordinated cavelry charge defense against them. The coyotes purposely parade in front of me, even though they could easily pass by concealed in the brush. I think that they are claiming my irrigated zillion jackrabbit ranch as their territory. We enjoy howling at eachother. They know that I'm not a coyote, but can smell that I eat meat, so they accept me as an unusually large bold preditor.
