Hello everyone, I decided to make a Beast World version of Magnum^^ I remember backing the Beast World on Kickstarter after randomly coming across some ads for it and had some fun with the one game I played with it(It was the first time I ever played anything in the DnD system in general^^). Now obviously this version of Magnum is no where near as powerful as the main one as he is basically just an ordinary wolf but blessed as I went with the paladin class for him and since I am not use to making characters in the DnD system it took me a while but it was a lot of fun :)
Also since the character sheet doesn't allow me to make a full bio for him I decided to do that separate from the character sheet and I'll post it here in the description. I hope you all like this version of Magnum^^
.................................................
History: Magnum hails from the lands of Allemance, raised in the lands of the common folk, his father a merchant and his mother being a former warrior of the Allemance military, Magnum decided to pursue the path of being a blacksmith as he had gained a fondness for the works of metal and forging tools of both war and labor. While not an acolyte specifically, Magnum found comfort in following the ways of the beast mother Pirhoua and like with his own parents he often 'conversed' with her, praying and asking for guidance like most would. Magnum was often always found with women as he grew up, when his mother wasn't around when she went out to perform her duty he would hang around with the women in their village, especially mothers given he had a theory and developed a belief that they have a connection to the Beast Mother herself, often delving into religious texts and forming his own theories and ideas in various journals.
Magnum eventually calmed down on his research as he decided to focus on becoming a blacksmith for a trade, given that it is an uncommon trade in his village and he learned to enjoy the sounds of the forge, he decided it was a good idea. He still hung with the ladies given their companionship and the close bonds he had formed over time and finds their softer features more appealing to be around compared to the rougher traits of his male peers but he also enjoyed how rowdy he can get as well as during his development they play fought and re-enacted battles to get their newfound energy out and all of the dreamed of becoming Delver's to find glory and riches though for many it simply did become a dream, but Magnum wanted it and prayed to the Beast Mother to give him a sign or answer on if Delving was a step in the right direction.
One day by fate or coincidence, an invading army lead by a paladin of Aubade invaded the land, the wolf gave the army a glare as the army approached, burning and destroying all in reach, Magnum took up arms and delivered an inspiring speech to the village:
"An enemy has come to raid the lands of Allemance, we must meet the enemy head on, place your faith in the Beast Mother, let her guide us in our dark hour, we will clash our steel with theirs and we will come out on top! Our Mother believes in us, so believe in yourselves and victory while hard fought will be ours!"
Invigorated by Magnum's words, the entire villiage made ready to meet the invading force, armed with what few martial weapons they had and farm equipment with little actual armor they were lead by Magnum himself with his mother close by, having been his teacher when it came to his survival skills and those of combat he chose her to be his second in command of this militia, her worry for her son and her maternal instincts were in full swing, wondering of what she taught him was enough and being the only one in full battle plate and training she wasn't too sure on where this would go.
Eventually both sides met, the paladin of the Sun Bull looked to Magnum and simply laughed at him and his gathered forces, the bear declaring himself to be Herse the Crimson-Stained. Undeterred by the better steel of the enemy, Magnum stood firm, clutching a pendant of the Beast Mother and giving it a kiss as he gave a silent prayer, he pronounced that he wasn't afraid, that his faith in the Beast Mother was strong and that victory will be on his side and that it isn't too late for the paladin to fall back.
Herse simply gave him a grin and that it was clear he was ready to lead his forces to victory as he drew his sword, in response Magnum rose his own sword, his blue eyes giving the bear a harsh glare as the fire inside him burned. At the same time both sides charged each other, while it is a pity that the villagers had no or little armor, it helped in keeping them a little more mobile compared to their foes, Magnum got bunched up in fighting a small pocked of the enemy, his faith and courage seeing him delivering and blocking blows, out of the corner of his eye he say the bear standing over his mother, his sword raised and ready to deliver a killing blow, the young wolf roared and charged the bear, intercepting his swing with his shield, shattering the frail wooden object and sending Magnum flying, but he quickly hopped back on his feet and met the bear in solo combat, at first the fight seemed unfair but soon the battle calmed down to where it was only their weapons trained on each other, the bear having ditched his shield in favor of trying to cleave the canine, both being guided by religious fervor but one was guided by destruction and the other by salvation.
The pair exchanged blow for bow, feint for feint, evasion for evasion, but in the end, it was Magnum who struck the final blow, he spun around as the bear swung his sword, he delivered such a heavy swing, it cut into the armor protecting the bears neck, the sword shattered on impact, it's sharp shrapnel dug into the bears neck it laid him low as he dropped his sword. Magnum ditched what was left his blade and picked up the bears sword for his own use and executed the foul paladin right then in there, he then howled in victory to the heavens as everyone looked on in awe, his mother showing a grin of pride as she saw her son in his moment.
When his howl finished, his body glowed for a few moments, when it was done his body became adorned with blue and blue-based markings, as he was bestowed upon his new look, he heard a pair of feminine voices and felt a warm touch, it was Pirhoua, the Beast Mother herself and Dramphine the Moon Wolf who blessed him for his love and devotion in protecting those he loved and cared about.
Thus Magnum became a folk hero and a living legend of his village, Magnum took it as a sign that he was ready to strike it out and over night declared that he was going to become a Delver and when the time came to declare a proper oath of devotion.
With dreams and ambition along with the Mother's light on his side, he believes he will succeed in his endeavor for adventure and riches.
Personality: Magnum is a very smart wolf indeed and is very wise for his age, despite being a paladin he can be shy and a little withdrawn, however once he gets to know someone enough he will open up and his extremely loyal. In combat is when the fire in him really comes to life as he takes charge and goes to where the fighting is at it's thickest as he fights on with religious fervor in the name of the Beast Mother.
Given his clash with the paladin Herse, Magnum has a hatred and disdain with the followers of the Aubade and will not hesitate to attack them if the situation calls for it. While not all followers are as destructive of Herse, Magnum will refuse to work with them unless the goal is worthy of such an alliance, but such an alliance is shaky and uneasy at best as Magnum keeps a close eye on those who follow the Sun Bull.
Beliefs: Magnum believes in the Beast Mother Pirhoua and the Moon Wolf Dramphine sternly and goes by the tenants of either one depending on the situation. While it is acknowledged that those of the Moon Wolf and the Sun Bull often fraternize just as much as clash, Magnum will often never socialize with those of Aubade given his history and seeing them more as a shock unit to beat the enemy down and a tool to serve a purpose in battle and then if they turn on this shaky alliance to be disposed of.
Magnum has a pretty strong personal belief that all women are connected to the Beast Mother in some way, especially women who have given birth, however this isn't a blind faith and his moral compass still guides him when dealing with women of any kind, as this belief doesn't really grant any special privileges.
Goals: Magnum's goals are the same as many paladins, in destroying evil and protecting the good and innocent through righteous fervor, to purge the corrupted and the tyrants, a key goal for him is to get strong enough to adorn plate armor so that he can be a more effective bastion of steel and faith.
In his dreams Magnum has had visions of an ancient magical sword, a weapon of light that is often presented by a feminine figure, he believes that the Beast Mother and Moon Wolf wish for him to claim this weapon as it is blessed by the pair or one of them. Thus Magnum seeks the sword out so that he may further his goals of becoming and performing as a paladin, one dream even giving the swords name... Galatine.
Family: Farryn(Mother), Brom(Father)
Age: 23
Height: 5' 5"(not including ears)
Homeland: Allemance
Gender: Male
Pictogram: Magnum's Picto uses the point as it's face, to signify he will fight at the front, the core of the face is occupied by the knowledge radical, connected towards the back of the radical is the bright modifier, as for the other side from top to bottom is the essence modifier, followed by the blood and then the leaf radical, his color for his picto being that of the blue Deepspring.
Meaning: Magnum's Pinto actually bares several meanings at once, as mentioned, the point represents that he will take the fight to the enemy, at the core is the radical of knowledge which represents that at his core he adores learning and wisdom and this branches into the other faucets of his picto and how he functions overall. The front of the core radical from top to bottom is the essence modifier, the blood radical and the leaf radical at the very bottom with the bright modifier on the back of the knowledge radical. The Bright modifier combined with the core radical represents that he believes that knowledge is power and this flows into the essences which then leads into his chosen face, this signifies his role as a paladin where at his core he will use the knowledge to be brighter in his duty and in faith alongside his personal growth.
The next part is in relation to the blood radical which is interlocked with the rest of the picto where it reminds him of his first battle with Herse and his study in the art of war, it also combines with the leaf to help remind him of his family through his bloodline alongside the essence modifier. It also shows that the path he has chosen will require his own blood for his own trials, trials that will help shape him in the times to come.
The last part is the leaf which represents his growth and is the key icon for the Beast Mother, in this case the point represents in a way the Moon Wolf, connected by the essence and knowledge parts of the picto, this represents Magnum's faith in his chosen patrons and his willpower, the bright modifier aiding in showing this and by extenstion with the blood radical to show he is devoted to both Pirhoua and Dramphine at his core.
Equipment and Wargear:
Bull Bane - Claimed from the defeated Herse, this long sword is Magnum's main weapon of choice, the name he bestowed upon in mockery to those that follow Aubade with the weapon's overall appearance unchanged since claiming it, the only additions being a blood drop on the center and a leaf on both sides of the blade carefully etched into it. Another note is that after claiming the weapon and having the etch-work done, Magnum had it blessed within the Bethel of his villiage.
Mace - While can be used in a lethal manner, Magnum normally doesn't use it unless the situation require it(such as non-lethal force).
Chain mail
Religious Icon - Magnum's most treasured item, in Magnum's villiage when a woman gives birth it is tradition for her to give them a charm in the shape of a leaf, one side barring the mother's name, father's name and the name of the offspring and the other the symbol of the Beast Mother, the Heartleaf. When these charms are made they are made in cooperation's by the jewelers and blacksmiths and then blessed by the priests and priestesses in the Bethel and thus also serves as a religious charm for the community.
Magnum is very protective of it given his sheer emotional attachment to it as it reminds him of his mother and father, he kisses it when he wakes up, when he goes to sleep and after every time he prays or when he needs some luck.
Shield
Attire: In terms of attire, Magnum's is pretty straight forward, boots, black pants with a blue belt and bronze buckle, a white undershirt followed by chinmail and an over shirt that is the color of the deepspring with his picto on a circular white surface which matches his shield. He wears an open blue overcoat over this combined attire to help cover his arms and protect him from the elements and a well stacked explorers pack.
