Paw Fashion 16: 'Idrin' sandal
Here we have a light trekking sandal for paws, based heavily on design suggestions by
chaz-fox so again, many many thanks for the idea! Like the London boot, it has a full sole to protect one's paw pads from gravel or other less comfortable ground surfaces, but leaves the toes and much of the paw open to the air. I liked the contrast of having the area around the heel and ankle being more fully covered, both because I thought it looked sort of interesting against the openness of the front of the paw, and because I'm just a sucker for larger panels of soft leather like that showing off its texture and shine. That design aspect is inspired by a few types of real-world sandals I've seen here and there in the last year or so, and thought was a neat look.
I imagine these would be especially well-suited to summer hikes either in the city or wild lands, keeping one's paws protected from harsh ground while the sole is thin enough to give a good grip and feeling, and letting the paws breathe and stay cool.
I'm afraid this is the last design I've got ready right now and for this round, but hopefully with how many designs I've done there's something for most people by now. ;) And chances are good that there will be more in the future as I get more ideas I like.

These seem like they'd be fun too! Hmmm. A taller, heavier boot would probably be better for making me feel dominant and stompy, so between the two if I were going to go on a macro rampage I'd prolly still lean toward the London... maybe for round three I should try to design a new one with this sort of full sole in mind, a taller boot than this, but a more masculine look overall than the London. And it will be the perfect stompy Doran boot. ^^ I'd welcome your inputs on this brainstorming if ya have any!
My reasoning for these is somewhat on par with what I had for the London boot. The thin sole of these would let a big dragon feel things underfoot, but be protected from them as well. Such as feeling someone's SUV flattening out, but be protected from all those nasty steel and glass shards.
And at the same time it leaves the foot exposed, for say catching or tucking tiny, squirmy things under large dragon toes. :P

It might be, if you place too much value on the opinions of real world fashion gurus who might insist on applying modern human fashion to dragon paws. But I think paw fashion is a relatively unexplored territory so if it looks good to you you can do anything you like. ^^
It might be faux-paws if you tried to pull off the look without real paws and only had fake paws. So maybe if you wore these sandals over fursuit paws. But that would still be cool looking so I wouldn't mind. And if you had real paws there'd be no issue at all.
If you went with that look as a quadruped then you'd be dealing with fashion four-paws. I think that would just be even more awesome though because the more paws the merrier.
I am veryveryveryvery pleased that you like the design. :D I was really hoping you would! I know I took some liberties and did my own thing a bit with it, but your design was the main inspiration and guidance behind it. ^^

OHHHH mah gosh. *bugeyes* OHHH MAHGOSH yeah I want. X3 This accentuates your feet and is very pretty and casual-attractive SO much. You sure you don't wanna design some pawwear? ;) I looove the very thin sole too and wrinkly anklestrap, it looks really comfy. :)
*grins and tailwags* Really glad you like this one so much! I'm really happy with how it came out, I think it's one that does a fun job of just kinda... accentuating the paws more than they would be if they were left bare. It doesn't obstruct or cover the paws, it just helps them go LOOK AT ME AND SEE HOW AWESOME I AM.
Yes I DO want to design pawwear! Which is why I've been doing all this. XD But I live in a world without paws. So I just draw stuff and post it on FA instead!
They do look awfully comfy and I want a pair too. Irritating though is that all the real world footwear I've seen remotely like this tends to all be quite feminine. Makes me sadface. In fact finding sandals for men at all that don't have soles as thick and chunky as cinder blocks is highly difficult. Apparently it's UNMANLY to have any desire to feel the ground at all or have soles that flex with your feet a little. But I think I'm just being ranty now. ;) I don't really want to cross dress, I just wish fashion gender roles would go away a bit so both genders could enjoy more variety!

Nice! I like how as you come around from the back you're treated to more and more dragon foot to view. The side view is particularly cool 'cause you get to see a bit of the pads (kinda teasing, which is awesome).
It did give me idea too - another sandal to try for future styles might be a Greek-type sandal. ^_^
