This was my first time making a bag or anything like this. The pattern is completely original and my own design.
The clam holds a magnetic clasp to keep it closed. There are two pockets in this guy, one inside and one in his tummy and the strap is shaped to look like seaweed :D

That is so UTTERLY badass.
.....You might actually be onto something. I think folks would pay a KILLING to have cute simplified versions of their characters as usable tote bags--especially con-goers and artists. Something to consider, at least. =D
All in all, tho, that is a REALLY cute style of bag, and a fantastic conversation piece. The face is utterly adorable. ^.^

Seriously though, if you do a test to see what kind of weight they can hold, and what kind of wear and tear they can withstand, I think you have got a pretty good product on your hands. *goes into business fox mode* I can see them in stores, colleges, and of course furcons. Heck, this would make a great bag to carry my writing gear around in.

Lol, this bag is my personal bag made for a school project. He's not forsale :)
As for how much he can hold, I'm not sure yet, I just finished him tonight but I will be testing him out tomorrow when I go to class.
And I plan to take commissions for messenger bags with different animal designs of course. :)

Oh my god this is so brilliant. And WELL DONE. I've sewn a few bags and purses and IT IS NOT EASY especially with the pockets, straps, layers etc! This is something I would totally see in as tore and just nab right away. You've got some talent in this arena for sure.
The otter is totally the perfect purse idea too, holdin that little clam! XD
