Up next! A wonderful and heartwarming picture of the amazin
Aonik. I have commissioned him in the past and the way he draws Digimon especially is super amazing! And this one turned out absolutely wholesome! After everything that happened, turns out there was a happy end after all and both survived! But of course, things are still not fully mended between them. So a lot has to be said and done. But the first stones of reconciliation have been laid! Let's see where things go from here in the future!
Chapter 13:
Incendramon awoke slowly from his sleep, looking carefully around, the light was dim and he couldn't tell what time of day or night it was. But he was back in his room, it was mostly quiet, he liked that. Trying to sit up, he regretted it immediately, as a sudden jolt of agony shot through his body, and he could not suppress a groan. His muscles were aching and he felt the aftermath of the fight strongly, still.
His eyes widened, as realization struck. He remembered it all again. Him and Placira going out, arguing, fighting... and then... fighting for their lives. He saw it all in fast forward before his inner eye. Her words still ringing in his ears as she grabbed his wrist and he in turn grabbed hers. He felt a shiver going down his spine at that moment. He remembered walking back home, carrying her the whole way. He remembered finally reaching the vicinity of the house and seeing a torch through the approaching evening, before passing out. His breathing had been fast throughout all of this, but as the memory came to a close, he forced himself to calm down. And he wondered, if Placira was okay. Did he make it in time to save her?
He got pulled out of his thoughts, when there was a knock at his door. Seeing the silhouette of Placira outside, he felt relieved, that she was okay. Closing his kimono properly, he called out for her to enter. The door opened and she stepped inside, closing it behind her. She also looked roughed up. Bandages on various places, just like him.
Placira had heard the groan, meaning that Incendramon woke up. So she decided to go and see him directly. It had been a few hours now, since she has woken up again, but walking was still painful to her. But she had to talk to him. Things needed to be said and corrected, which could not wait, and she entered after he bid her inside, closing the door again behind her. Greeting one another and assuring that both of them were fine, even though their bodies still hurt. A small silence was broken by both of them trying to speak at once, stopping and chuckling, which resulted in another jolt of pain for both, as they simultaneously groaned, again something that somewhat amused them, though they both did so silently.
Placira remembered how they interacted in the past. Her standing in the doorframe, confronting and judging him when he sat on the ground below her... she didn't want to appear again as such. Carefully crouching down to the ground shuffling closer to him, she sat down, both of them now at eye level with each other. Taking a deep breath, signaling him that she wanted to speak, he perked up to pay attention. And so she spoke her mind. Apologizing for her past behavior and for being so inconsiderate. She didn't know what he went through, which in no way, shape or form justifies her behavior. Telling him that she had not imagined something so tragic being... even possible. Since she could remember, she lived with their master Daijuramon here in his house in the deep woods. She didn't know where she came from or who her parents were, but she didn't really care about it, as Daijuramon had taken care of her all this time since she was here. Despite all this, she thought her life now to be quite sheltered, compared to his. And she would always regret those harsh and hurtful words she told him and again, apologized to him, reaching out to grab his hand with hers, he reciprocated the gesture, as her hands were held in his and she felt the firm strength of it and the pleasant warmth.
Her words were quite touching and he could see where she came from. How could someone imagine such tragedy and misery, if they never saw it? Her words meant a lot to him and he felt glad that she opened up about it. He then told her the story of how he came her. How he had lost his family and swore an oath to avenge them and bring their killer to justice, so they could find peace. That he wanted to be strong to fulfill this duty. That it was this, for which he lived for. Though he admitted, he had been going at this wrongly and that the gloom of his past and the memories were haunting him, as he pushed to become better because of them. He sunk into his bitterness and embraced it, using it as drive. But he realized now it was wrong. And that genuinely fighting for something was far more important. Admitting, that her critique of him had not been unwarranted and he too had said regrettable things to her, he needed to do some re-evaluating and soul-searching, following his recovery.
Listening to his tale, it was indeed a tragic one and she could not restrain her emotions well enough, as some tears ran down her cheeks for him. After he had ended, she spoke up again. That she thinks, there is more to him than just this mission for vengeance and justice. That during the fight, she felt something from him. He was not the type to blindly go after such things. That there was a resilience and indomitability in him and most importantly, kindness. That he was much more of a knight at heart than he gave himself credit for, that he had a talent to inspire others and be a good example to keep on fighting, even in the face of evil. She was glad that he took some positives out of her harsh words, and now, she looked forward to perhaps training alongside him and really aim to become knights together. She saw him smile from her proposal and nodding, saying that he looked forward to improve together.
They talked for some more time, mostly about related topics and their current outlook after such a life-changing event and what may come next. Both of them agreed, that Daijuramon would think about a punishment for them, as their bickering put them in mortal danger, but now was not the time for that. They first needed to heal. And so, they separated again, mutually wishing each other a good rest, before Incendramon fell asleep again shortly after, but much more at peace and with a smile on his face now. And so did Placira in her room, resting and recovering, as the experience had both of them grow from it and finally achieved to bond.

Always loved this piece ever since I first saw it, but it has a LOT more meaning with the text attached - and the situations beforehand. Such a good reconciliation scene!
(It's a minor thing, but I like that Placira got a bit of a perspective where her attitude and the conflicts before weren't entirely her fault. Partly for not being able to know better.)

Oh, me too. From the composition and how the characters look as well as the emotional and context background to it x3
It does its job marvelously!
(It was the intent and very much focus there that neither party was innocent but also not without fault. It was in all certainty both, also from the point that they are still young and naive and have a lot to learn :3 Mistakes happen, especially when you're young. But you gotta learn from them! Placiras main flaw was making assumptions about situations and the way she engaged Incendramon. Which then caught him on the wrong foot and upset him, so he didn't even want to correct her because of how offended he was additionally to still working through his grief. So yeah, a difficult situation that was not easy to resolve :3)
