Originally monkey demon used to be a possessed rat, spent its days at a graveyard nibbling on corpses.
It can't mind control people, only peer into what its host is thinking. You can't lie while possessed, but it can't force any thoughts out either, the host has to reveal them willingly. Like a Freudian slip.
