Finding a design I liked definitely was. I thought I knew what I wanted out of him and it wasn't until talking to a few people that I finally did and landed on this!

Type deal i feel from this exercise, The prospective and lighting, really brings out the mood quite well! Good work, Keep it up! I need to finish up my artistic ventures and excerise... I get distract lot to do so. XP

Epic. Did you change his head a bit tho? Or is it just due to the angle we've never seen before.

It's never been the same way twice. I will say that although I can't say this is the final design it's definitely much closer with the face/cheek/beak/ hair design.

Addition of the those feathers on the head looks sweet , you should totally keep that. Love the fierce® look of the eyes too ^^

Didn't you say at one point in his development that you had run across a problem in drawing him facing the viewer?

Maybe I misread but it seems if there was a problem you solved it.

It definitely helped to make it more angular. Also helps to be inspired by my favorite artists for this one.

Very nice, though I'm not sure if the two blue streaks are a good idea. It looked more unique when it was only one, going down his right side, but then again that's just me. It's still and incredible work!

It was always meant to be on both sides. I just had trouble drawing him from certain angles. Hell, I'm still trying to figure him out.

Veramundis' digital painting is pretty darned amazing. I've been after art from that person for ages and it looks like it might finally become a reality. I also think the style you've used here would mesh pretty well with thumbclawz's. It would be cool to see a collab between you two sometime since you both seem to like more exotic species.

I swear, your 'sketches' are like complete portraits to me.

I love how tsampikos will upload a sketch and then add 'done in SAI in 4 hours' or some horrendous amount of time, just for a warmup. The quality is incredible, your time input is certainly evident in nearly everything you do.

It took a fraction of that time actually, as all my of my warmups do. I just woke a little early and decided I didn't want to start the 9-12 hour work day just yet so I started the morning a little something for myself. Whether or not 1-2, sometimes 3 hour drawings count as a sketch or warmup is subjective.... but considering what I do it's definitely that to me.
