Me: "I wonder why these wires are stripped almost an inch back from the solder joint" :/
This guitar had a whole slew of problems including this one, but this one was particularly grotesque. Obviously there were very few ways you could have positioned this thing to *not* short out.
This is the cat piss guitar btw, in order to get at this jack I had to unscrew the jack plate and in doing so snapped off one of the rusted through screws with just light finger pressure. *sigh*
Sorry I didn't get more pics of this project, I have been quite busy trying to find a job and with all of the phone calls I have ben getting for repair work.

lol. good times. I had to resoder an input joint on my 80s B.c. rich a few years back. The guitar was extremely well made...until you got to the electronics. Once I got that sorted, it remains one of my fav guitars.
Also, random question: Ever seen a tele with a floyd rose? I can't find them anywhere.

A teli with a floyd? I have never heard of such a thing. Putting a bigsby on a teli is somewhat common though. The thing about Floyd Rose bridges is that you have to dedicate the guitar to the whole Floyd Rose system which means a locking nut too. I think most teli players are just out for a blues or country guitar.
That being said, If you want teli sound from guitar that has a floyd rose on it already, put some alnico 2 singlecoil teli pickups in it and it will sound amazing :)

Well, the short version is that those wires being soldered to this jack really can't be touching any other metal part in the vicinity. If they do they will short the circuit and no sound will come out, so this guy kinda stripped these pack a bit far.
Thanks BTW ^^ and TV's scare the hell out of me. High voltage caps are one reason I don't do amp repair.

I know, everything audio systems are very sensitives to the short circuits in the in ,and in the audio out...
and you're right, the tv's are dangerous, just 4 one reason, high voltage, but i love the electrical shocks, it's becoming addictive in through the years...holy shit, i'm complettely screwed
