It has only been just over a year since Sabine Edelweiss moved away from her small Austrian home town and had begun working as a nurse in Switzerland, although she did it less out of her own volition, than to escape her hostile environment. You see, Sabine is a transwoman, openly so, and while her family loved her the way she was, the people around them were at best barely tolerating the deer and at worst, actively trying to hurt her and her family. From all the bullying in school due to her gender identity, she was used to being mistreated, but eventually even she couldn't take it anymore and needed to get away. Even though she was now away from her unbeloved home place, the scars from her experiences linger on in the form of crippling social anxieties.
Fortunately for her, she now lives in a place where the people around her accept and love her for who she is and, even if her anxieties make her already difficult job not any easier, seeing how the patients and her co-workers value her hard work makes it all up for it.

Introducing another character to my cast, Sabine was intended to be an exercise on how to conceptualise and write a trans character. I am very much a cis-guy, and I have little contact to trans/non-binary people in real life, so I was at first worried about that my depiction of a trans character could be flawed or, much worse, actually offensive. To my pleasant surprise, though, my friends and the artists I've shown Sabine to loved her. From her design, to backstory and personality, she has been very well-received so far, including some positive feedback from a transfemme friend, which I value a lot. In fact, a non-furry friend of mine is a bit of a simp for her, and I can't wait to see his reaction when I show him this wonderful illustration of his favourite deer :3
Speaking of the illustration, it was done by the wonderful duo
Elronya. I knew from the beginning that I wanted them to be the first ones to depict Sabine, since their lovely, soft art style is a perfect fit for this cute deer. At the moment, they offer "Pay What You Want" commisssons, and they also have a cute bunny OC, so I'd recommend checking their page out!

Thank you for your compliments! The artists have done a great job depicting Sabine. I‘m really happy how she turned out.
I‘m also happy you enjoyed the story (and the fact that some people take the time to read my descriptions and don‘t just skip over it lol). It‘s basically a condensed version of her backstory. The whole thing is more elaborate and at times depressing. If you are interested, I could show you the document I have done for her.
Again, thank you so much for the nice words. I‘m glad people enjoy Sabine as much as they do ^^
