Another Card Batch
I'm growing more confident with the markers as I work with them and getting more daring with blending them and doing some more dynamic effects. The copics and shinHan markers both lend themselves wonderfully to this. (ShinHan are Korean Copic ripoffs and are way cheaper but just as good, or if the quality is any less I haven't really noticed it much)
So, starting out we have Gabriel Syme looking nervously over his shoulder. I was extremely pleased when folks recognized him right off the bat before I started coloring him. Having a character with a distinguishable enough look like that is kind of important even though my style has a general way of doing things.
After that, I didn't like the version of Uriel as a templar because he didn't strike me as the kind of person who could become one. So last night I drew him again as a gray warden. I asked him what he'd fight (sword and board, two-hander, bare hands and teeth...) and he suggested a sword in each hand, so I drew him thusly. He has just gotten into a battle with.. um... raspberry jam. Yeah. That's all just raspberry jam. (this was my favorite card of the night)
Then we have the very sad Easter bunny. The bunny is sad because
vixenchan mentioned that it was April and snowing. So the bunny is sad that it is snowing on Easter. It doesn't show at all in the scan, but some of the flecks of falling snow are silver and glittery.
And finally we have Three looking a bit like a gypsy and showing off a gold coin she's either teasing someone with or perhaps recently procured. Considering how she's holding it my guess would be the former. Yet again I don;t know the setting behind this. I just felt the urge to draw her in billowy sleeves with a gold coin in her hand. If someone sees these little things and wants to slap a story on them, feel free. anywho, I actually put the most work into the background and layered on several different colors until I got the general look I liked. You can also see the virtue of the markers I use in that by the fact that they layer well and don;t streak at all.
So that's it for this batch. Remember that preorders for dragon age cards open up on Wednesday!
