So I take it you like cyberpunk? What do you think of other genres like steam punk and what I think is a somewhat lesser-known genre, known as diesel punk

As said elsewhere, cyberpunk is cool to me, but diesel and steam are less my style. They feel trying too hard to me.

I guess I always just like to think outside the box. If I made a steampunk style setting, I would probably make it more based off of late steam technology that was adopted or proposed after the age of Steam ended. For example, in the third world steam technology was still being used in a widespread manner as late as the 1980s in China, India and Africa. South Africa actually made one of the most efficient steam locomotives of all time when a person from England really wanted to prove a point that steam still had some life left in it and it was so good that it was almost as good as modern diesels for its time. The locomotive was named red devil, and I think it’s still in preservation in Africa. That is the sort of influence. I would probably base as steampunk setting off of so culturally it might actually be closer to years between 1979 to 1991
