Above the worries of the world, you carry me, and I guide. Forever. Originaly posted in November of 2005 for my Significant Other at the time. One of my favorite works. The way the wing-hands spread, the curve of the back and spine, and the way the ridge scales follow it in 3D.

Every once in a while, I think about being big and being able to carry a rider. But as nice as that would be, the logistics of such a size quickly weigh on me and make it increasingly uncomfortable and Not Right. It doesn't feel Right to tower over things, it doesn't feel Right to try to look at people from up above so high.
And sometimes I think about being cat-sized, perching on shoulders and nibbling at treats offered to me. Flying in the air, coming down to land on an arm before climbing up to the shoulder, squeaking and hissing and such. But then I worry I wouldn't be able to do much beyond "look cute" and maybe "scout the area" (if I even have a way to communicate), and it starts making me feel uncomfortable and Not Right. It doesn't feel Right to feel everyone loom over to that extent, it doesn't feel Right to be so tiny.
So I'll stick with the size to lay across a lap, or at least lay my head in a lap while I'm curled up on the couch next to someone. It feels Right to walk along at someone's side, my shoulder to their hip, looking up and around. It feels Right to be able to pounce and attack if needed, to stand my ground over a fallen Owner in defense. It feels Right to fly through the air and come back down to rejoin Owner.
The wings here are lovely, they give me a feeling that matches how I feel they should be. ^_^
