Found these on my external harddrive and remembered that a lot of you guys here on FA either forgot about or were completely unaware of Ronny and her cohorts, so I thought I'd throw these up.
As the dating depicts, these were my original concept drawings for Ronny done during her creation for a class in 09. Save the two in the bottom left, which were done more recently (one done with Kaylink's fox maker, in an attempt to design Ronny's fox form x3). She's a Kitsune- a spirit fox, of Native American heritage not Japanese, so they don't actually use the term Kitsune at all, but they are aware of it. It's basically the same thing.
She starts her story off dead as a doornail- killed by your stereotypical obsessed boyfriend and spending some time as a raging ghost in a nearby tavern. When a shaman visits the tavern, he does some ritual thing to cleanse the place of it's evil spirit (aka- Ronny) and works his magic to make her a spirit fox. So she gets a body and the ability to cast illusions and junk- her human form is just an "illusion" cast over her fox form, via the runed ring she wears on her tail. At some point, the ring gets a crack in it, so her illusion is faulty and incomplete now, revealing her ears and tail and what not. but she doesn't care.
She's supposed to be acting as a sort of guardian angel- spirits in this universe have very specific tasks and jobs assigned to them to safe guard mortals from the forces of evil and what not. But Ronny is just about the worst candidate for this position and instead spends her time completely ignoring all responsibilities, selfishly pursuing personal pleasures and being generally a lazy good for nothing.
She has two cohorts- Blake, a far more experienced spirit fox who died during the black plague outbreak during the middle ages and has been a spirit ever since, and Calloway, a much younger fox who died very recently due to his own stupidity and was sort of made a spirit guardian on a whim. Ronny is supposed to be teaching Calloway how to be a good spirit fox, but since she is a terrible one herself, she does nothing but teach him how to screw the rules and get away with being a lazy asshole. Blake was supposed to be teaching Ronny and has been bound to her for years at this point, waiting for her to rescue her first wayward soul. But, since Ronny sucks at being a spirit guardian, she has not rescued a single person, so Blake is sort of trapped as a part of her life, trying to be the failed word of reason with her.
They are a fun trio. I really need to draw them more.
