Dhozi meets with one of the Khodai on a snow covered mountain top to ask for safe passage for the Lipane explorers she is escorting. Although passage is only part of the negotiations there is also the matter of asking for permission to collect samples of the local herbs and for shelter for the night at the village and designated campsites along the mountain trails.
This particular Khodai female is called I'Esh and she and Dhozi are childhood friends and now also mate-bound, meaning they share a male as their mate, which is an old custom of the Khodai females to invite another female who they consider a blood sister to join their clan and recieve the same status and authority as a secondary or tertiary mate. So Dhozi has ulterior motive to visit the clan as she has not seen their shared mate in a while and is eager to catch up on clan affairs with him and I'Esh while her Lipane charges enjoy some Khodai hospitality in another den.

The Jokhudai and Khodai were originally a replacement for dwarves in that world just like the Lipane are a stand in for elves, I just never really fleshed them out or thought of what they looked like so this is really a first design and creating some lore around them.
Also I forgot to add this in the description, but they show their greeting here which is done by making a quarter circle motion with the left hand with fingers curled inward, starting at chest height and then holding the hand up while they introduce themselves. Waving goodbye is dome similarly but with the right hand instead. There's an alternative way with the claw tips pointing towards the one they greet which is typically done with a stranger they do not trust yet such as a rival clan or when the humans and Lipane first landed and made contact. it signals that they see you and that they will defend themselves if you choose to be hostile. They may only be 3-4 feet tall but they are a lot stronger than they look, they are quite capable of ripping a human's arm off with little effort so armwrestling with them would be a bad idea if they don't hold back.
