Tsali the Serperior keeps a clutch of eggs safe and warm.
I am disappointed that snakes aren't used to depict Easter in the same way as chicks and bunnies; Snakes lay eggs too.
Before you correct me I do know that some snakes give live birth.

The reason why a rabbit is the classical 'mascot' for easter is pretty simple, back then christianity mixed with a heathenish tradition, which was simply a fertility ritual, and as everyone knows, bunnies multiply pretty quickly so it was a famous symbol used for that.
I'm not so sure about chicks anymore though, but I think it was a symbol for new life.
The picture itself looks good, but maybe you could've made the grass in the background taller, for a more sheltered feeling.

I agree with the idea of snakes as bunnies.
The reason why bunnies are used as symbole for easter is an very old story.
Want annoy you, so here the shortform.
(Sorry if it sounds strange or uncomplete. Didn't go to deep into details.)
Bunnies are the old symbole of fertility. (No wonder if you ever saw a mother with her baby bunnies.)
The christian took this symbole from the other (older) religion and told them that their god also celebrate this days.
In the older religion it was the beginn of spring.
That is why at easter the bunnies are everywhere to see.
And the thing with the eggs you were right.
The egg is the symbole of new life.
(But what was first? The egg or the hen? ... The answer is another story.)
